Please Sponsor a Phoenix Forever Friend

Choose your Forever Friend that you would like to sponsor

Our eight Forever Friends each have a significant story to tell. They all passed through Phoenix at some point in their lives and have been chosen as our ambassadors as they are representative of the work we do and of our past and future adoptees.

Taffy, Molly, Ellie, Joe, Merlin, Samson and Petit Jack have all now been fully adopted by Phoenix team members and have become very special companions within those families. We can all tell you how rewarding it is to see the progress these animals have made since taking up residence within our homes, although for some, rehabilitation is on-going. It can take months, even years, before these animals can fully regain their confidence and trust in us humans. Updates and photos will be added to our facebook album titled “Forever Friends Sponsorship 2015” during the coming year.

Your sponsorship contributions will go towards funding our ongoing re-homing programme, which will help secure the future for many more abandoned animals here in the south west of France. In return for your sponsorship, you will receive an annual photo and updates of your new friends, plus the peace of mind that you are helping Phoenix accomplish its goals.

If you would prefer to donate your sponsorship as a gift to a relative or friend, please contact Christine Endres for further details. Email: members.phoenix@gmail.com

Big licks and tail wagging thanks from your Forever Friends

Little Joe

Little JoeThe gendarmes of St. Astier stopped to investigate a suspicious-looking polythene sack in the road. In it was Little Joe… and his eight brothers and sisters! We lovingly bottle-raised them from 2-weeks old, re-homed them when they were weaned, but kept Little Joe – our ‘baby’…. a baby who grew and grew and GREW! Little Joe doesn’t know if he’s a dog or a donkey!

Molly

Molly is a ragamuffin fox-terrier who reminded us so much of our late and much beloved Manon that we couldn’t NOT keep her! Sometimes we mistakenly even catch ourselves calling her Manon. And there is, after all, a weird connection. Molly was brought into the Vet’s surgery as an abandoned puppy, on the very afternoon we said goodbye to dear old Manon. Call it fate!

Merlin

The unwanted offspring of an accidental mating, Merlin at a year old  was branded as a ‘killer-horse’ and was cruelly whipped to the ground by his owners. In truth, he is an extremely gentle and comical character who has generously decided to forgive and forget.

Ellie

EllieWe don’t know what happened to Ellie in her previous life, but we found her at the local pound where she was thankfully safe. She had recently given birth to a litter of puppies but sadly not a pup in sight, so there she lay bewildered and trembling. It was obvious she had been exposed to a life of cruelty and misery; we couldn’t turn our backs and walk away leaving her there alone. Ellie has proved to be an absolute gem, so gentle and quiet and without an ounce of malice. “Hey! My tail wags, ummm…. something good happens every day now I’m a Phoenix Forever Friend”

Petit Jack

Petit Jack! This quirky looking old boy arrived at Phoenix having been found searching for food alongside a motorway, skinny and barely able to eat. Well he’s been in foster care for some months now and no one has come forward to adopt him. Jackie feels she should keep him as he’s so settled and happy, plus the vet thinks his ear cancer might flare up again if he gets stressed, so he’s our latest addition for 2015

Taffy

05 Taffy
When just a tiny pup, Taffy was abandoned at the local dog pound. The pound was shut, so Taffy was simply thrown over the wall. All grown-up, Taffy is now happy to take foundlings of any shape and size under his wing. “Trust me”, he says, “I know what it’s like to be an orphan!”

Samson

Samson
From rags to riches! Regal Samson is now living in the lap of luxury, though at 8-weeks old he was skeletal, full of worms and unwanted. A feline without a future. With a very loud purr, and a very quiet miaow he says, “and it’s all thanks to Phoenix!”
