Hopefully you are all aware of the Phoenix Book Christmas Rummage on Friday 13 December. It falls on a sorting day and marks the start of our break in sorting activities over the Christmas and New Year period. Please be aware that we will not be able to accept donations on the 13th and will be closed over the holiday period. We will let everybody know when sorting will start again as soon as we have made that decision. Thank you for your understanding.
The ‘Spooky Spectacular’ held on Halloween Night at Brasseurs du Pont, Siorac, was the final ‘hurrah’ of the season. Through all the room cleaning, table laying, food serving and clearing and not forgetting all the beer brewing, collecting funds to assist Phoenix with its animal rehoming work remained an important consideration. After all, Ben the rescue dog makes his home at BduP!
Music with a spooky horror theme was played by Tony, the DJ. The assorted costumes were wonderful to behold from Death in his robe, through several witches and wizards to Cruella Deville with her latest idea for a spotted coat on her arm. (When asked why the Dalmatian was so small she explain she had put her through the washing machine on too hot a cycle and shrunk her!) There were several dogs in costume enjoying the event, and possibly some treats.
A wonderful, slightly hectic time was had by all. Afterwards the collecting tin contained a further €190 to add to the Quiz Night’s donations adding to a final total of €1,190 contributed by BduP to Phoenix funds.
Chris, James and all their helpers including Tony Lever who acted both as quiz master and DJ, deserve our grateful thanks. They all worked very hard to see that maximum donations would be collected for Phoenix. The events were well attended by both French and English speakers with questions in both languages. Thanks must also go to the Cave in Le Coux which provided a selection of wines as prizes to the members of the winning Team at each event.

BOOK FAIR OCTOBER 2024
We raised well over €12000
Well done everyone - another brilliant Phoenix Book Fair! We thank everyone who came and supported us, volunteers, punters and donors alike. The weather was perfect all day and there was masses of great home made food on offer. Also information desks for ourselves, SPA de Bergerac and the Auberge 4 Pattes. Please continue to support these organisations.
What a delight to speak to so many of you and hear stories about kittens and pups adopted, sign up new members, re-sign old ones and answer dozens of queries about animal welfare and what we, at Phoenix, do to help.
A huge thank you to ALL the volunteers, both visible and behind the scenes, without whom we simply couldn’t do this - what an amazing team! If you didn't make it today, we are back again in May 2025. Thanks so very much!
Participation in Journée des Associations Bergerac (September 2024)
This event is a great opportunity to discover what is going on in the area, as most sports and associations in Bergerac are represented.
160 diverse Associations attended as did most Bergerac residents, it seemed! Car parks overflowed, kids tried their hands at boxing, archery, judo and over fifty other activities prior to the return to school and, mercifully, the weather held out. For members with school aged family it was clearly not to missed!
Phoenix was warmly welcomed by the organisers and located next to the SPA Bergerac so that lots of people who didn't know us got to meet us and lots of supporters, took leaflets, met our canine ambassadors and talked about the work Phoenix is doing.
Our stand attracted lots of attention, so many thanks to the team who gave up time to organise the event, host the stand, engage with the public, answer queries and spread our message. If you missed it this time come along next year!
Collection at Animalis, Bergerac (June 2024)
A spirited team manned the stand at Animalis Bergerac at the end of the month and successfully raised over 500 euros for Phoenix, despite the indifferent weather. Well done team and thank you to everyone who donated
News!
QUIZ NIGHT AT CAMPSEGRET 12th APRIL 2024
The quiz was a lot of fun. About 30 people attended, there were six teams and it raised about 200 Euros. The bar was very nice, and there were an assortment of yummy snacks. Thanks to Guy for being a great host and to Mike Finzell who organised it. Team Anony Mous won.
DOG WALK AND QUIZ WITH CAKE COMPETITION 30 MARCH 2024
Huge appreciation to Madeleine, Peter, Chris and James who put on a really nice event with a great friendly feel and a terrific group of people came along to participate at the Brasseurs du Pont, Siorac. Thanks to all who did and to the bakers who contributed.
It was a heart-warming occasion. Despite the overnight thunderstorm, there was a good turnout. The sun made a welcome appearance and it was a fun event. There were more than 30 walkers and about 20 dogs. The cake competition attracted 8 entries and were all excellent. Dorothy's bee cake was a masterpiece wasn't it?
In total the morning brought in €195. It was of course, greatly supported by Chris and James, the Brasseurs, who provided the embroidered apron and bottles of wine as prizes. Les Brasseurs is a wonderful venue!
Thank you, Tiff, for the ‘Special’ rosettes. Every dog got one to wear home and their owners loved that!
